2.7 million people in the United States graduate with a Fine Art degree yearly.


The number of Visual & Performing Arts graduates in the workforce has been growing at a rate of 5.42% a year.

Of the 2.7 million fine art graduates a whopping 75%  said they need business skills but only 25% said they had received any business training in school.


Why is that exactly? Is this the reason why the "Starving Artist's myth" exists at all and why it's perpetuated year after year? Where can Fine Arts workers find  the answers to the questions they're looking for? The answer is simple! It's Thimble Media.

We’d like to introduce you to our founder, Kimberly Lavon.

She's the creative brain behind who makes Thimble Media, LLC what it is today.


Hello, fellow creatives! My name is Kimberly Lavon and this is my story:

My creative journey began in High School when upon graduation, I started
portrait tattoo artist apprenticeship. I worked in the tattoo industry for a
year then moved on to earn my
B.F.A. in Graphic Design & Fine Art Printmaking
from (KCAD) Kendall College of Art & Design. January 2009, I moved back
to my hometown of Lansing, Michigan to open my first LLC: 8/2 Creative (pronounced 8 over 2, a printmaking press pressure) which is now known
as Kimberly Lavon INK.


As luck would have it, my business grew rapidly and that’s when my career really took off. I began working with prestigious brands like Lululemon, The Got Milk campaign, and  The Olympics. I exhibited fine art with Shepard Fairey, and was featured as the centerpiece artist for the Annual Offrenda exhibit at the D.I.A. Detroit, Michigan. My crowning achievement was becoming the Graphic Designer and Artist Representative for the first Art Advocacy Day in Michigan in over 10 years. I was elated to represent the needs of all 89,000 creatives at this prestigious event.


All that brings us to the present where I have added an M.A. in Advertising from Savanna College of Art & Design (SCAD), 2020 to my credentials. My newest venture, Thimble.Media  launched on instagram on 10.1.2020. Since then I have begun an entrepreneurial ownership journey with LEAP Lansing that ends late March 2021. That is when we will officially be in business!
